![]() evening Gandalf could be found sitting outside the Bag End with Bilbo or Frodo Baggins, pipes in hand, blowing smoke rings which the Wizard brought to life with subtle magic. Wandering among verdant hedges and lush gardens, Gandalf the Gray enjoyed the company of the Hobbits who lived there: a gentle people of simple-minded eccentricities and makers of the best pipe weed in all countries. Packing size: 416x194x140 For a wizard whose errands took him throughout Middle-earth, the sleeping hills and sleepy villages of the Shire were a sanctuary. Hope that makes sense.Official product: Weta Workshop Product typology: Replica: 1/1 Product weight: 704 g. What I can see from the photos though doesn't make me think this statue is crafted any better than other current Weta offerings because they've raised their game so much of late. I don't doubt what you are saying, Josh, and I don't have the benefit of having seen it up close. I think Gollum was worthy of it, Treebeard a little less so, and this one definitely much less. The problem is that the term has somewhat of vague definition for most, and simply adding that classification to a statue comes with a premium that some may feel is unjustified. Aside from the flowers and possibly the goodies in the cart being mixed materials, I'm not really sure what makes this piece a Master's Collection item. What I'm saying is that you could take each component separately and assemble it into one piece to create Gandalf and Frodo on Cart, and that would be good enough for everyone, and still plenty expensive. Every statue that Weta makes today takes an incredible amount of work. prospective cost I'm just not sure how much more complex and detailed each individual component is over a regular 1/6 version of it. There’s a lot going on and a lot that it took to make this piece.Oh I'm not arguing about the complexity and size of the piece vs. I think Frodo alone is like 7 at least from what I recall being told. To make a piece like this requires multiple molds to make the piece. It’s the sheer size, details, and materials used doing it. It’s not the flowers pushing this into MC area. There’s a lot going on and a lot that it took to make this piece. ![]() In reality, the only affordable venue for this statue would have been at 1/10 scale. It’s not the flowers pushing this into MC area. ![]() ![]() Just can't see how it wouldn't be expensive either way, except if you are comparing very expensive with extremely expensive, which will be the case here. Even at a 'normal' 1/6, this statue would be costing about $1500 easy, based on what you get. Yeah, it's silly that a few plastic flowers are enough to push this statue into MC territory, somehow justifying the premium that Weta will inevitably charge for the appellation alone.Ĭonversely, buyers are getting two main characters, a horse, a cart, cart contents, and a big, enviro-filled base. To Netherland - Shipping = *$7.20 or there is no 'or' Most locations have 2 ways to ship, a less expensive way and a more expensive, the way that Weta 'suggests' has the ' *' in front of it, as I would expect that they would use this method for the 'free shipping to gold members that Ithildin has suggested. Take Mini Epic Bilbo: Please note shipping to different parts of each country could cost different amounts, I am just using one address that I have for country shown. I have been thinking on this a bit and I wonder if instead of receiving 15% WD back as a Gold Collector, that maybe it would be better to still receive the same 10% WD back as a Silver Collector but then receive free shipping on your orders when you move to Gold? The thing with this thinking, is that it would not be the same for all, which many would state is unfair and I really can't blame them. ![]() I agree, WD back on WD is never going to happen. ![]()
